Sport mode engaged but no light on...

Hi guys, I have recently bought myself a Maserati 2003 4200 Coupe, manual transmission

When I press the sport button the car definitely changes: suspension tightens, enhanced throttle response and the exhaust seems more crackly.

However the LED indicator does not light up on the button nor does the "SPORT" indicator light up on the dash.

I have had a diagnostic done by AMD Technik who confirm that the car is in sport mode when the button is pressed and goes into normal when pressed again.

I have searched various forums to find no threads reporting a similar problem... has any one encountered this before? Would it be something as simple as a blown fuse?

Thank you for your responses guys

I dont get the sport button lighting up either (on a GS) i didnt think they did as it shows on the dash.

Probably just the bulb:

Ah glad I'm not the only one. If the lights behind the dash are capsule lamps then it is likely the ones behind the taco are the same and not LED. Lamps are more likely to fail the more you switch them on and off, after 4 owners I imagine the sport button has been switched on/off enough times to blow both lamps. Not sure if I'm brave enough to try and change the one behind the taco but I will get on with the lamp behind the button, then at least I have one indication the car is in Sport.

Mine is never out of Sport mode. Always restarts in the same mode as when last switched off. I'm fairly sure the Sport button doesn't illuminate on a GranSport. Neither of mine ever did.

If it works I would be cautious messing with the binnacle, as it could cause more harm than good. If you do get it fixed make sure you get a specialist at electronics to fix it. A fried board just might be too much of a risk.

The button light should hopefully be an easier fix
