Sport mode engaged but no light on...

If its in sport mode then the suspension firms up and the gear changes are sharper if you have the CC gearbox. That i am aware of there is no difference to the steering at all.

If you have a manual gearbox and you dont have the skyhook suspension then in effect the sport mode button will do nothing at all.

If you have a GS and you activate the sport mode then you get the quicker gear changes, stiffer suspension and the exhaust valves are open.

Your cars a 4200 manual so assuming you have skyhook suspension then and that valved rear boxes have not been added then the only difference in sport mode would be the changes in the suspension.

Im wondering if the dashboard sport mode only lights if you have the CC gearbox ?

80% ish of the cars are CC gearboxes so most of us can only comment on what the dash lights do with the CC gearbox.

Anyone else with a manual 4200 and skyhook that can confirm that the lights do come on when you engage sport mode.

Im always in sport mode well 95% of the time but on the few occasions i have been in normal mode but i cant say i have ever noticed a difference in the steering.

If it is just the case of a bulb being out in the dash then the wheeler dealers episode on the 3200 shows you how to get the binnacle out to change the bulb and yes they are just standard glass bulbs not LEDs.
Yep!!.........I confirm that the sports button and the sport on the dash both light up when engaged and that the car defaults back to normal ride when ignition is switched off and then on again.

Hi guys, I have recently bought myself a Maserati 2003 4200 Coupe, manual transmission

When I press the sport button the car definitely changes: suspension tightens, enhanced throttle response and the exhaust seems more crackly.

However the LED indicator does not light up on the button nor does the "SPORT" indicator light up on the dash.

I have had a diagnostic done by AMD Technik who confirm that the car is in sport mode when the button is pressed and goes into normal when pressed again.

I have searched various forums to find no threads reporting a similar problem... has any one encountered this before? Would it be something as simple as a blown fuse?

Shoghi............How did you get on with your gaiter? I assume you turned the plastic frame around yourself.

Hi Stu, yes I got back from Iran and saw the box sitting there so I bought some leather glue and stuck the frame back on the right way up. Looks good fitted big improvement

I had the switch panel changed today, turns out it comes with all new buttons, gone are the nasty scracked window control buttons.

Sadly my sports mode still does not work. The Autofficina say the next step is to test the skyhook ECU. If that doesn't work then it's a lose connection.

Anyway on the plus side much improved interior with the new gaiter

To this, much better

Although the new switch panel has not made SPORTS mode start working I did get a Skyhook error light on my dash so we have some progress as the car now recognises that there is something wrong. I turned the car on again and the light was gone, assuming the fault should still be stored in the ECU (?)

Hi guys me again.... not done anything to sort this yet but doing some brainstorming.

Now we know that the heater matrix has been leaking all over the wiring loom for some time it is very likely that it has fried something back there as the new switch panel still does not work and I seem to have lost the function of the fog lights too.

The heater has been diverted so it should be dry back there now hopefully, what could it have fried? Body control unit is at the other end above the accelerator pedal so maybe another ECU or relay/fuse within the loom? Sadly I'm not much of an electrical engineer.

Hmm. I strongly suspect that getting to an indy with SD2/3 is going to be the best course at this point. :(

Autofficina did this after they changed the switch panel. They said the diagnostic shows the new switch opening and closing when the button is pressed so something else is fried. They initially suspected the suspension ECU but after I found the heater matrix drenched the wiring loom they said that will more than likely be the culprit.

They said if the Skyhook ECU was broken the car defaults to the stiff sports setting and it is not.

I will take the car back to them in a few weeks for another look
