Switching from a 4200CC to a Quattroporte.

My 4200 CC is sold. A deposit has been taken and she leaves on Friday. Even though there's now a lovely QP in my life, I shall really miss my Coupe. I loved every single moment in that car and she will always be a special car for me as she was my first Maserati. In the QP I waft, while in the 42 I proceeded with purpose.

I'm missing her already.

Aww at least you have been fortunate to have owned one though. Does the QP feel lots bigger and heavier?

Yes and yes. Though, it came as no surprise and the QP is perfect for what I want to use her for. The 42 was just too small for me, the Mrs, her 10 year old, the attack Cavalier King Charles and our luggage. Especially as the boot was half filled with a spare tyre. It got so ridiculous last August that for a trip up to Morpeth we had to borrow my sister's Kia Sedona. One thousand miles in that convinced me that the 4200CC really had to go!

:D

She's gone to her new owner who picked her up from Nuvola thirty minutes ago.. I wonder whether he will turn up on here?

Thread resurrection time.

I've had the car for almost a year now. In that time, she's taken us to Le Mans for this year's race and to the South of France. Plus various jaunts up and down the country. She hasn't missed a beat and has done exactly what I bought her to do. Waft me, the family, the dog and all of our luggage around in perfect comfort, with a hint of sportiness when needed.

Any yet...........

I popped over to see Nareman at Nuvola this morning. He has a fully auto 2007 car and I had half a mind to swap, so saving me the hassle when it comes to clutch renewal time. His car wasn't bad at all. But, I really wasn't enthused by it and then we got to talking about stuff and basically, he talked me into keeping mine. That's one of Nareman's many plus points, he gives his honest opinion, even if it costs him a sale.

So, I've decided to keep the car. But, I want to pep it up a bit. I don't want to spend more than £2,000 on her. The obvious option would be a Larini sports exhaust. However, I bought a pair of their rear boxes for my 4200 and the 'boom' from them at 2,500-3,500 rpm was so horrendous, I soon got rid of them. I don't fancy going through that rigmarole again.

What would you guys spend the money on?

Do Larini back boxes fare better, boom wise, when fitted to a QP? Has anyone had another manufacturer's exhaust fitted on their duo-select QP? What about a cheaper option of just a Larini x-pipe. I've checked out the You Tube comparison videos and an x pipe doesn't seem to make much difference, sound wise.

Any and all suggestions will be gratefully accepted.

:)

Ha!

Problem is, now I've sold my Stratos replica, the money's just sitting there in the bank. And in my man maths head. That money is CAR MONEY!!!! SWMBO won't be pleased if I blow it all (on a 964 targa as it happens, or for some obscure reason, a Clio Sport). But, I reckon I could get away with some new parts. Hence the £2k budget, which I hope will sneak under her radar.

How about an ecu upgrade? Performance Italia offer several within my budget. But, which one?

What have you done with your duo-select QP that has enhanced your driving pleasure, people?

Also very interesting in following this - I'm in the same position, considering some sort of upgrade on the QP. Looks like an exhaust upgrade might be forced upon me though.

Looks like the cats have decided they've used all nine lives. If forced to replace exhaust sections, then I think an upgrade is in order :)

What milegae has your car done? It's a 56 like mine. Have you investigated the exhaust options? Larini, obviously. Quicksilver also do exhaust components. As I said above, I had a rotten experience with Larini back boxes when I owned my 4200CC. They stayed on for exactly seven days before I gave up on them and their boom and sold them on.
