    Obd code reader

Greg It does look the same as the cable I have i.e its blue and the two ends look correct. Due to having a similar grasp of IT as you I decided not to risk the possibility of not getting a functioning cable so bought one from Sander who wrote the software - not as cheap as online - I think it...

    Specialist in Cornwall

Hi there. Great to have another member in Cornwall. To add to Karatemaseratis info I have also used the SW lotus centre in Lifton as they work on lots of exotica in addition to being the regional lotus specialist. My car is an early Non ODB2 compliant 3200 so I use unidiag for diagnostics...

    Hibernation Time

I couldnt deal with winter hibernation as I'd miss out on my favourite Xmas day tradition. IMHO it's the best day all year to go for a proper drive as the roads are almost deserted. Don't really suffer from ice and snow in Cornwall either.

Last one I had was a black mk2 16V LHD with A/C too. Went like S.O.A.S. Gearbox went so sold it for bits but still have the aparently rare "GTI stripe" interior stored in the garage if anyones interested. Had 3 all told (a mk1 GLS which had been breathed on in Germany an 8v RHD mk2 and the best...

    brake disc hub paint

I used a matt grey stove pipe paint from Jotul that I had in the shed in spray can. Used a plastic bag to mask the calipers and cleaned off any overspray onto the disk surface with thinners stright away. Biggest issue I had was the paint running and the time it took to clean off 2 years worth of...

    Insurance Time Again

mine was £189 for 6k miles inc business use, full protected NCD, clean license, 51, garaged, wife on policy(makes it cheaper even when she was L) on Axa multi car. Weird thing was we paid exaclty the same premium for all 4 of our cars so the 3200 cost the same as her daily Pug 206 quicksilver...

    Steering gator supplier?

Angelus My invoice just states "Steering rack gator kit" £5.99 + Vat. I had them changed when I had the wheel alignment and camber done. I have phoned the garage that did the work and they are looking back through their records to find out who they purhased the gaitors from. Given the very low...

Maserati owner selling his DS, (check background) could it be Bennyd in disguise??!!

Bought mine in '95 or 6 from a friend in France who was getting divorced and he had bought from an old chap who had it from new. When I got hold of it it was a bit "Sort de la Grange" so needed a bit of TLC..new exhaust and overhaul of the hydraulics (a lot easier than people would have you...

    plymouth and surounding areas anyone?!

Hi Greg I figured that out after I'd seen the pics of yours in the badges thred - Duh! Do you still have the old wheels? Reason I ask is because I want to have mine refurbed and don't fancy leaving the car on blocks. A meet would be great, Dunno if they still do it but the Lifton Lotus centre...

    Heater dial illumination

Hi Phil thanks for the photos I got the screws out fine but just couldnt get the screwdriver under the lip of the console surround to be able to exert any leverage hence the scratch because the Screwdriver was not engaged under the lip of the console and skidded accross the surface of it. I'm...

    Heater dial illumination

Hi the CR keys worked OK - I bought generic "European" ones from Halfrauds £5 . Having removed the CR I have then spent several hours trying to find and remove the clips that hold the console in at the top /sides of the heater controls. All I have succeeded in doing is scratch the carbon fibre...
