Loudest exhaust?

Very interesting. My understanding is that track days and road limits are published in db(A) which is weighted to allow for the limitations of the human ear. This could knock anything up to 26.2 db off of the reading which puts most of the cars in the ball park for track days. It really depends on the full spectrum.

Results of yesterday's rev off:
1. MAF 128.8db
2. FC 122.8db
3. Contigo 122.3db
The yellow banana was a clear winner, but can either Benny, Stuart, Matt, Martin or Mark de-throne our current champion? We'll see at Brands Hatch for sure?
I'd say ASBO status is above 120 db and it is an incredibly noisy club - my ears are still ringing! It was also interesting to see both the x and aiiiitttcccchhhh pipes being so evenly matched; different tones but similar volumes, though FC will dine out on the result for years to come!! Overall, I'd say the biggest difference appears to be the lack of CATs on MAF's car - this seems to be the key to true hooligan status??
Just for reference, Mr Pea's 4200 was 110db and Adrian's Aston N430 managed 119db and readings were taken at max revs 1m from the exhaust (horizontal and vertical)

I'd assumed they were using the meter in dB(A) mode, otherwise obviously the figures are not comparable to how everyone else measures them at tracks. If measured at C or Z, the numbers will typically be much higher than A weighting.

Im fairly sure contigos is louder than mine. I must have been off getting some food when you did the tests.

At a guess i would say im around the 110 to 115 mark but the people who heard mine yesterday will probably have a better idea.

Ive got an app on my phone so will see what that reports when i get chance and a safe area to test.

Is it 50 cms away at 45 degrees and 1 meter off the floor and at full revs you tested at or 3/4 revs.

Josh used a thinner wall thickness pipe when he did mine making it sound quite different to Phils auto. Its quite a lot more raspy when the turbos spool.

I'm aiming for 120db haha

Interesting dilemma - thinner wall pipe and manual v auto. ....mmmmmmmm

I doubt 120 as Adrian's Aston was 118dB and that was loud, really loud but it will be interesting to see!

I am thrilled with the results and knowing MAF almost breached 130 dBA barrier makes me think my QP may be able to tick over the now established ASBO standard of 120 dBA.
I won't be able to attend Brand's Hatch event but look forward to the next gathering where I can get my in queue for ASBO batch!

I would love to see some recorded footage from the day at Brunty as well, if any one got some!

PS: Love the trophies!
