What to do?

If you fancy something fun, different and available to order new to your own spec, how about the new Alpine?

Not a bad shout but I would look at an Aston based on what has been described as desirable in this instance

Very subjective as how I think I drive and how I am seen to drive....

Not used for any domestic work, I use the Co. car for that.
It does not come out in the rain because I can't be arsed to clean it again for a 1/2 day out followed by a full day clean.
If out for a blast with just me I drive it as swiftly as I think is safe (enough)
Take it on holidays if not flying although she would rather fly to the Maldives or Bahamas etc.
However she does like me to take it out if going to a nice meal out or to visit friends...but at road speeds.

So what you really need is a QP/Ghibli and a Ducati.....just saved you a fortune right there

If it takes you a whole day to clean your car then you need a smaller car or faster arms. The Vantage is an excellent size. You should get a late model V8 Vantage S, with or without a roof. And then de-cat it.

Buy the F car, box ticked. If you don't like it sell it , you shouldn't loose much if bought wisely, then buy whatever ticks all the boxes at the time :)

I had a similar dilemma on which car to buy and came to the conclusion that although I could get a relatively modern sports / GT Aston, Maser, Porsche etc. none of them ticked all the boxes (although at the time I didn't know what the boxes were).

I realised that these types of car are great at what they do but a lot of the fun comes with risks. Speed enforcements are getting worse, traffic especially on main arteries is horrendous which limits the times you can truly exploit the fun factor. Driving ability, everything happens faster and this exposed my lack of skill.

I then thought about how to get that fun factor more often and my little 2.0 Giulietta does it nearly every time. With its little 2.0 litre 4 pot and simple suspension fun starts at much lower speeds, a nice bendy B road can have you smiling without risking your license. These B roads tend to be less populated so more opportunities to play and finally they are much cheaper to run, simple home mechanics for most things or a trip to a local indie for the black art of tuning carbs.

Hence when the decision had to be made I bought another classic, even less power, skinnier tyres and leaf springs (shock) but I absolutely love it.

For everyday stuff the RR is a comfortable fast load lugger happiness all round, well apart from the ragtop - off to the searching Grancabs on Autotrader ;)

Lovely colour... you'd have to have some balls to drive that car around where I live..

Just think of the film Deliverance!

I think Andy has the right idea.
For me I have had the fun of the 400 plus HP cars but in the last few years I have had so much Fun with Minis and my Favorite was the XJC for sure as she ticked all the boxes.

Thank you for the suggestions etc.

I think I have decided to keep the GS and add a MC of sum sort ro the garage. Either the Auto with S pack or a CC version, although I prefer the former but recognise they are few and far between... oh and I don't want a black on black as the GS is that already (and miles need to be sub 30k)

That CaliT is starting to get into my head.

Tell me about where the residuals are heading?

South. Just look at what happened to the prices of the N/A Calis when the T came out. It's happening again to the T now that the PF is close and people are changing.

Mind you, all car prices seem a bit screwed up at the moment. There are some cracking deals to be had, and that green T is a gorgeous car even if the price is still falling.

Probably not the greatest time to sell a Black GS either, as most of the examples on the market are of a similar hue...
