Adam, don't worry about the double post, when you've done a few more posts, it will start to get easier.

RSM, as they say; "for those that understand (bikes) no explanation is needed, and for those that don't understand, no explanation is possible". I love my bikes too.

OK Benny...as a biker can you explain why loads have to drive in the day and on a sunny day with their fron ligh on high bean a blind any one coming towards the...Please don't say its because they want car users to see them.....This gets right on my t~t.........

I really appreciate a good looking bike and am not against them..What I'm against are the tw@ts that do not respect other road usersand drive like idiots on the road and stupid speed....and there a many of those around by me......

Though I can see the attraction of 'biking', I can't come to terms with the death toll, and those bikers that do manage to shuffle off this mortal coil under non-bike related circumstances seem to do so with debilitating bike related injuries.

Andy, I keep my dipped beam on all the time so I can be seen despite the sun. Also, the disruptive pattern on bike fairings and leathers tend to merge into the background and make us harder to see so I keep my lights on to keep the odds in my favour. As for the d1ckheads, there are probably more tw4ts in cars than there are on bikes as there are more cars than bikes on the road and I have had a few pull out on me and it is fecking scary when you haven't got a tin shield around you, and the words " sorry, I didn't see you" don't really help when you are lying like a swastika on the road. I am not blindly defending all bikers as there are a lot of idiots about but we need a different survival skill-set which you may not appreciate as a car driver.

Just once or twice. The worst one was on the Bypass between Shavington and Nantwich when a mechanical problem on the front of a recently purchased R1 caused the front wheel to lock up and it low sided me. I was looking at the speedo as it happened and I hit the ground at 138, slid about 100 yards and got away with bad bruising and a broken little finger. Nothing to write home about really. Other than that a couple more low sides and a high side which hurt. Not a lot in over 30 years of general stupidity.

Benny what went through your mind as you crashed at 138?

You must have thought this is it surely?

Time did slow down a bit and I seemed to take forever to stop, and I kept thinking "this is going to hurt". The funny thing was I didn't even realise I'd broken my little finger (in 5 places) until we were getting the bike into the recovery van about an hour after the accident. Good stuff that adrenalin! I was pretty stiff and sore the next day but it didn't put me off bikes. No lasting damage apart from a finger that is is now 3/8ths of an inch shorter that it was and a scar where my elbow wore through my leathers. Happy days!

Apparently you are never more alive than when you are on the verge of death. I was pretty wired for a while after that one.
