Hmmmmm, let me think about this; a 2.2 litre with 150 bhp and rear wheel drive against a 1.6litre with 115 bhp and front wheel drive, which one would I prefer? As a driver, no contest, and it's a Lotus, what more could you want?

My first car was it's little brother (the one without the Lotus magic) Pile of **** but I loved it. Wrapped it around a pelican crossing railing sadly. The council were after me for years to pay for that d@mned railing!

The trouble with the youth of today Andy is that they have been brought up on a diet of front drive hatchbacks and probably haven't experienced rear drive oversteer madness. I can't see anyone who has driven a high power rear drive hatchback choosing a Golf Mk1 instead. Personally, I would take a Clio Williams over the Golf but would still take the Lotus over either.

In that case Adam, I guess you will never experience REAL hatchback fun. That's a shame.

There's a thought..Was there a rear wheel drive hatch apart from the Compact...Best hatch from 80's and 90's Integrale...

The great rival to the Sunbeam Lotus was the Chevette HS/HSR. Crackers, especially the HSR. Too much power, not enough grip and a slippy diff. What could possibly go wrong!?
