I suppose you were just luck you slid and did not hit anything. Do you remember trying to adjust your slide to avoid stuff?

I bet you thought you were going to leave this world the way you came in, Kicking and Screaming!

.as a biker can you explain why loads have to drive in the day and on a sunny day with their fron ligh on high bean a blind any one coming towards the...Please don't say its because they want car users to see them...

Depending on the age of the bike - after 2003 I think all bikes have to have to have the headlight on, I cant switch mine off, engine on = lights on, bit like the old Volvos whose side lights where always on. Not sure if this is a law or just an unwritten safety agreement by manufacturers. Mine is always on dipped beam whether I like it or not.
Sadly there are some idiots on bikes - I am not saying I have never broken a speed limit or raced another bike, bit like car drivers, truth is there are more high performance bikes on the road than high performance cars - especially on a sunny Sunday

I do remember pushing my hands into the road to try and slow myself down and thats where I broke my finger. When I felt pain I rolled onto my right side, then my back and then my left side. Everything I was wearing was trashed but I stood up and walked to the bike which was also trashed. Still, you live and learn and I haven't done it again since!

Ouch - - that sounds nasty - crashin' means your're tryin' but glad you ok, low sided my first bike at about 60mph - I remember sliding along on my ar** watching my bike disintegrate itself as it was sliding next to me,I was counting ££ signs as each bit flew off

I'm with Andrew on this one.

On the wrong side of 45, I grew up with mags full of countach, 512BB etc which I like. But I do prefer the clean lines of the 50's/60's cars. 250 Lusso, Dino, Ghibli, 3500 Vignale spider, Miura, Lamborghini 350 GT, DB4, Iso Griffo and many more that I can't think of right now.

Someone posted somewhere (maybe on here) that the slim pillars gave a light airy look to the cars. I think this delicate touch does it for me, no massive A pillers that you can't see past that create a mobile blind spot for me (read into that me being a midget). Not fussed about the saftey, to quote that great movie Predator, "we're all gonna die" so may as well be in something nice.

My formative years were spent watching rallying so I still hanker after a Vauxhall Shoveit HSR or a Sunbeam Lotus. Don't know why, I just like them. Stupid money now though.

Probably the hot hatch of the era. Far better than A Golf GTi Mk1.

That is quite a bold statement, a golf gti in silver with gold bbs wheels looks the dogs danglies.

Sunbeam Lotus was probably a great car back in the day but they dont have the status like the mk1 Golf GTI.

Mark 2 GTI try finding an unmolested one, i looked at one of those as a first car, still too expensive on classic car insurance although the one i looked at had an Audi s3 engine yet it was not on the log book as a modified car.

What happens if you have an accident and they find out it had a bigger engine, you wont be covered, dont go down that route

no i wouldn't buy anything like that, would only want a standard one with subtle mods such as suspension and exhaust.

Hmmmmm, let me think about this; a 2.2 litre with 150 bhp and rear wheel drive against a 1.6litre with 115 bhp and front wheel drive, which one would I prefer? As a driver, no contest, and it's a Lotus, what more could you want?
