EU tangled up in red tape, really :D

If they ever get a European army can you imagine how long it'd take them to deploy if they were attacked, ringing all the leaders at 3am :D

Its all made in some sweatshop in the Far East anyway. She’ll just get it direct.

I doubt that , I can buy a Rolex watch from the far east , it might look the same on the wrist but it's definitely not the same watch.

Go to cheatham Hill and you can buy all kinds of knockoff gear but you only see those aspiring to be rich buying it , never the rich themselves.

Big difference between clothes and watches, though. I think you'll find that most clothes are made out in the far east.

What he said. Even the likes of Prada and Dior make clothes in Bangladesh, India, China etc. They get round being able to put a made in Italy label on it by finishing them there. All the high street stuff like Zara is near/Far East and if her coat was £200 it wasn’t Chanel

My point was anything not purchased through an official outlet would be considered knockoff even if it was made in the same factory

I didn’t mean back door I meant it’ll come direct. The companies will get wise

So you’ll order your jacket from Zara and instead of it coming from China to Spain and paying duty and then Spain to Uk and paying duty again. Zara will ship it direct from China to the UK and only pay duty once. The EU doesn’t really make much more than we do.

Thinking on your comment about watches, Switzerland isn’t in the EU so I wonder if there’s a Brexit benefit to purchasing a Swiss watch?

It's EFTA(ish) to so that means single market/customs union AIUI...

The Swiss model was much vaunted early Brexit-in-motion.....

Can't help but say, I told you so.

Apparently the French are having similar issues due to the 'over zealous' officials (someone else's description)

OTOH I am genuinely curious as to those in support of the EU feel about the approach to vaccine supply currently being displayed (apart from by the Germans it seems)

"She admits to having voted ‘leave’ because she was sick of employment and health and safety rules originating from Brussels."
Can't have it both ways; if she voted to leave because she didn't like the rules she shouldn't complain now because she doesn't like the new rules.

Wouldn’t need to ring the French though. They’d be deploying to Alaska.

Zara wouldn’t pay duty twice if they continued with the existing supply chain unless they are totally hopeless. If the goods are for re-export outside the EU, duty can be suspended or ‘drawn back’ later in Spain

I've only read a few posts on this thread, and this is my first comment, because Brexit really isn't my business. However, the company I work for is based in the EU and adheres to EU regs. We are in the process of rebuilding a piece of machinery and the paperwork to do so is absolutely staggering. A 15 page risk assessment, including an in depth psychological assessment of those involved in the work in case someone is disgruntled, and wants to kill his coworkers with the new paint...
Hours and hours of Skype meetings, 9 different types of PPE to be used, serious micro-management, in all a nightmare.
If this is how doing business in the EU is, I can understand the impetus for Brexit. :(
