It is all back in place and actually the shuts are better now than before. Again I've replaced the air filter and pollen filter and guarantee neither had been changed by MD services which at 60k should have both been done twice now. I am determined now that ANY car I get a MD service on I am going to check the filters have been changed on, I'm fed up of paying for them if they are just going to leave it... Nothing scary about servicing this little scream box anyway, even had a look at the valve clearances; bet that has never been done even though it is in the book at 60k!

As for the soft bolt; I have never had a bolt round off so easily and I've had lots of experience with Chinese metal, even those cheap bolts would have been better.

I ordered a full set of winter tyres for her yesterday, need to sort out the wheel refurbishment this week and buy new mounts for the radiator & airbox (as is) as it will need to go back in stock initially. Tyres should be Vredesteins but we will see what is available. I note in the manual the front winters are 10mm narrower than the summer tyres, has anyone any view on this anomaly???

Stage 1 of the sound track improvements is winging its way to me tomorrow!!! Just need the cooling system finished so I can put it all back together enough to get it sprayed...

Yep, different compound I get, a heavier tread pattern too but is just 10mm going to make any real difference?

The first of the silicone hoses (trial set) are here and I have been cutting to size and fitting today amongst many other tasks on the beasty to try and get her ready for the Christmas bash!

first silicone set 01.jpg

So I have spent part of the day removing the remaining sheared airbox and radiator mounts so I can get replacements during the week; what really annoyed me was getting an ouchie off the mole grips - what a stupid design these things are that snapping them closed pinches your palm!

Ouch 01.jpg

But I ended up resorting to heat and angle grinder to get the mounts off anyway!

Anyway the hoses are going back nicely I just need the microbore ones and the two big ones and we can test them. Great clearances on all adjacent parts so far :)

I also changed the oil and filter as she has been standing so long I don't want to risk the old stuff.

Refitted the new aux belt too that was so much easier with no radiator in the way!

A 15mm socket on the idler wheel lifts it clear to pop the belt over (belt not in picture)
